So this is Madrid. It’s actually nicer then i expected. Yes it is! There is a lot of green, a lota. I actually had not read up on the history of Madrid or anythin

g so i just expected a large city but wandering around on a Sunday in August resulted in quite a lovely surprise. Granted we were around the more touristic areas, and almost everything was closed since it was Sunday and

August and most of the local population is in the hills or the beaches... but still!
After a day at the pool, and another day speed walking through Segovia for a couple of hours, i was way ready to do some serious walking and sightseeing. So again, the negotiations with Nisarga begun. First, that we would actually get out of the house at a decent hour and head into town. My ammunition this time: the museum is free on Sundays so we better be there! Neither one of us is big on museums, so to pay euros for going to see them wasn’t as appealing as getting to go for free. Plus, he had already agreed to a day of serious sightseeing in Madrid! Then we reached the center of Madrid and here came round two of negotiations. He wanted to get on one of those to

ur bus gigs again, and of course i wanted to walk. Again, after some back and forth, we agreed that we’d try walking and if he got too tired or whatever we’d get on the metro or something. So we walked for a few hours and then reached a menu. Of course after the menu we needed a siesta, we learned our lesson in Barcelona, which we took outside the Museo del Prado, waiting for them to start their free visiting hours. We spent a couple of hours in the museum, even enjoying some parts, and then went back outside for fresh air. We spent the rest of the evening in the huge park behind the museum, el retiro, walking and sitting and stopping and walking and even getting my face painted.

The next day we went back for more, but we were worn down. The sun was beaming down strong on us, and this time there was no museum with AC to seek refuge in for a while. We headed back earlier then we thought, but satisfied that we experienced something of Madrid.
